Digital textile printing is an innovative process that includes printing a pattern, design, and picture straight from a computer onto a specified surface using large-scale digital printing equipment, commonly known as an ink-jet printer. Digital textile printing process first starts with the ink preparation, as inks used in printing are manufactured according to the type of fiber including silk, polyester, and cotton. Some inks need drying and washing. Digital textile printing process uses inks that are generally water-soluble dyes.

This commercial printing process involves addition of ink droplets on the fabric surface and it continues as the fabric is fed into the printing device using a roller. This process is used on natural and synthetic fabric. Digital textile printing is commonly utilized in the printing of promotional clothing,
banners, flags, and t-shirts as well as a variety of other textile applications. Traditional printing processes, such as offset printing and solid ink printing, employ toxic chemicals and solvents.

Advanced digital printing technology use minimal harmful chemicals and mild solvents. Technological advancements in digital textile printing such as UV gel reflects or absorbs sun radiation and provides protection against sunburn.


The COVID-19 pandemic affected the economies of several countries. Governments of various countries sealed international boundaries, hence shipping and supply of compressors used in digital textile printing were hindered at multiple locations. Several display graphics companies were hampered, due to the pandemic. Digital textile printing reduces the procedure time and outperform the broader textile industry throughout the pandemic.
