These acoustic materials can be of various kinds including porous materials, panel absorbers, cavity resonators which are very prominent.
Porous materials are acoustical boards, soft plasters, mineral wool, diffusers, within the network of pores the sound energy gets blocked and converted into heat. Panel absorbers are panels hung from ceilings or stuck on the wall. Resonant absorbers dampen a sound wave as they reflect it.
