Lickable Cat Treats Market to Reach USD 3.06 Billion by 2034 as the Squeeze Tube Moves Beyond Treats
By Growth Market Reports Research, published , updated
Ontario, California, 28 September 2026. The global lickable cat treats market was worth USD 1.46 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 3.06 billion by 2034, growing at a CAGR of 8.6% from 2025 to 2034, according to the new Lickable Cat Treats Market report from Growth Market Reports. The report finds that the squeeze tube, created by Inaba in Japan in 2012, is moving beyond the treat aisle: brand owners are turning lickables into functional products, complete meals and dog treats, while contract makers in Thailand report the format is now their fastest-growing treat line.
Lickables are lifting supplier sales
Thai contract manufacturer i-Tail, a subsidiary of Thai Union Group, reported record first-quarter 2026 sales of USD 163 million, up 28.6%, and said treat sales rose 95% year on year on the popularity of lickable formats, lifting treats to 20.8% of its sales. In the first half of 2026 its sales reached USD 316 million, up 20.6%, and the company named lickable treats among the higher-value categories behind its growth in the Americas. Inaba, which completed its fourth plant in Thailand in 2025, expected record pet food sales of about JPY 160 billion for fiscal 2025.
The tube becomes a platform
The leading brands are extending the format in three directions. First, texture: Inaba showed Churu Soft Terrine for Cats and new complete-food pouches at SUPERZOO 2026 in August, and mousse and terrine textures are the fastest-growing product type in the report, while puree-based tubes still earn 62% of revenue. Second, nutrition: INABA Foods USA brought Churu Complete 3oz cans into select Target stores on 31 August 2026, and Pet Honesty launched eight functional lickable purees in July. Third, species: Inaba's Churu Terrine for dogs won Dog Soft Treats Product of the Year in the 2026 Pet Innovation Awards.
Unicharm reported in August 2026 that its Hartz unit's Delectables was the world's best-selling wet cat treat brand by 2025 retail value, now sold in the US, Canada, Australia and Mexico. By Growth Market Reports' analysis, the top five brand owners hold about 50% of market revenue.
Asia Pacific leads, Latin America grows fastest
Asia Pacific holds 46.4% of the market, anchored by Japan, where the format began, and China, where online brands sell cat snacks at scale. North America follows with 31.3%, supported by 53 million US cat-owning households, and Europe holds 15.5%. Latin America, at 4.6% of revenue, is the fastest-growing region at a 10.1% CAGR as global brands enter Mexico and Brazil, and the Middle East and Africa holds 2.2%.
Online boxes and tubes dominate
Tubes, sticks and sachets account for 70% of revenue by pack type, and chicken is the leading flavor at 34%. Online stores are the largest and fastest-growing channel at 34% of revenue, as owners buy 40- to 100-tube boxes for a daily treat routine. Tariffs are the main pressure point: Inaba's fiscal 2025 results absorb a 19% US import tariff on products shipped from Thailand, its main export base.
"Lickable treats have become a daily habit rather than an occasional reward, and that is what drives repeat buying. The next phase of growth depends on whether brands can move the tube into functional and complete nutrition while staying within veterinary guidance on treat calories, and on how supply from Thailand and China adjusts to tariffs."
