Instant Vietnamese Coffee Market to Reach USD 3.63 Billion by 2034 as Vietnam Builds New Instant Coffee Plants
By Growth Market Reports Research, published , updated
Ontario, California, 28 September 2026. The global instant Vietnamese coffee market was worth USD 2.04 billion in 2025 and will reach USD 3.63 billion by 2034, growing at a CAGR of 6.6% from 2025 to 2034, according to the new Instant Vietnamese Coffee Market report from Growth Market Reports. The report finds the world's largest robusta producer moving up the value chain: Vietnamese and foreign companies are building new instant coffee plants, while the value of Vietnamese coffee extracts and instant mixes imported by partner countries rose by more than two thirds in 2025.
A new wave of instant coffee plants
On 25 June 2026 Trung Nguyên Legend broke ground on an instant coffee plant and a plant expansion in Tan An 2, Dak Lak, with nearly VND 1,200 billion committed to phase one and operations planned for 2027. The company says the lines use equipment from Germany, Italy and Denmark, including GEA Niro. In August 2026 Food Empire said that its USD 80 million freeze-dried soluble coffee plant in Vietnam remains on track for 2028. Tata Coffee Vietnam is adding 5,500 tonnes a year of freeze-dried capacity at a cost of about USD 53.3 million, a project its board approved when the existing plant was running at 96% utilization, according to a Tata Coffee stock exchange filing. Nestlé Vietnam has invested more than VND 4,300 billion in its Trị An coffee plant in Dong Nai over 2024 and 2025. The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service forecasts Vietnam's soluble coffee exports at 2.8 million 60 kg bags in 2026/27, pointing to new processing capacity, in its Vietnam Coffee Annual 2026.
Price lifted 2025, capacity carries the forecast
Partner countries reported USD 1.50 billion of imports of Vietnamese coffee extracts (HS 2101.11) and instant mixes (HS 2101.12) in 2025, up from USD 0.87 billion in 2024, according to UN Comtrade data. Most of the increase came from price: the unit value of extracts rose from about USD 9,690 per tonne in 2024 to about USD 12,720 in 2025 as record robusta prices fed through. With Vietnam's average coffee export price down 9% in the first half of the 2025/26 season, the report projects slower growth in 2026, followed by steadier gains as the new plants add volume.
Bulk powder leads, flavored mixes grow fastest
Black instant coffee, mostly spray-dried and freeze-dried powder sold in bulk to brand owners abroad, is the largest product type at 70% of 2025 value. Flavored instant coffee is the fastest-growing product type as brands add café-style and premium lines. By channel, B2B and private label supply accounts for 57% of value, and online retail is the fastest-growing channel. Bulk cartons and bags lead packaging with 58%, while pouches and refills grow fastest. Industrial buyers and brand owners make up 57% of demand by end user, and foodservice is the fastest-growing end user.
Asia Pacific leads, North America grows fastest
Asia Pacific holds 70.5% of the market, followed by Europe at 21.8%, the Middle East and Africa at 4.8%, North America at 2.5% and Latin America at 0.4%. North America is the fastest-growing region at a 9.6% CAGR from a small base, helped by the US exemption of coffee and coffee products from reciprocal tariffs effective 13 November 2025. Nestlé, ofi, Trung Nguyên Legend, Vinacafé Biên Hòa and Tata Coffee Vietnam together hold about 45% of the market by Growth Market Reports' analysis.
"Vietnam is turning more of its robusta into finished soluble coffee inside the country. The 2025 jump in export value was mostly a price story, so the signal to watch is capacity: as the freeze-dried and instant plants due in 2027 and 2028 come on line, volume rather than bean prices should carry growth, and buyers of private label powder will have more Vietnamese suppliers to choose from."
